Our team

Sandra Tashkovska

Undergraduate in Veterinary Science

Sandra is a self-confessed dog and cat lover that combines her two interests, veterinary medicine and writing. When she is not studying, she writes, volunteers in a veterinary clinic, or cuddles her cat. She is a pet enthusiast that aspires to spread awareness for animal welfare as much as she can. Although she owns a cat, she strongly claims that “dogs are her favorite people”.

diana

Diana Ketchen

Diana loves dogs. Plain and simple. She’s always been drawn to their lovable (and sometimes goofy) faces and wagging tails, and she enjoys nothing more than spending time with her furry friends. Diana has six dogs of her own, three of them rescues, and each one means the world to her and her husband, Michael. Though some people may think it’s crazy to have that many dogs, Diana can’t imagine life without them.

Nikola Milenkovski

Undergraduate in Veterinary Science

I’m Nikola, and I’m an undergraduate in Veterinary Science. I love dogs and I have two of my own. I’ve even been known to cycle for hours just to get to the nearest dog park! My love of all animals means that I want to help as many as possible, which is why I attended Veterinary College. In my spare time, you can usually find me either cycling or reading up on the latest animal news.

Ashleigh Berlin

Veterinary technician

After working with animals for over 12 years, I now dedicate my time to assisting other animal lovers by giving them the information they need to give their pets the best care possible. My furry family consists of Toby, a two-year-old Schichon (Bichon Frise and Shih Tzu), my two horses, Sarge and Sadie, and an elderly Australian Shepherd who keeps the property safe from any danger.

After volunteering at the Toledo Humane Society from 2002 to 2006, I decided to pursue a career working with animals. I enrolled at Columbus State Community College, and I graduated in 2008 with my Associate’s degree in Veterinary Services and was licensed as a veterinary technician in Ohio. Hired by a veterinarian at Holly Farms Animal Hospital, I worked in the field under a supervising veterinarian for over five years. I was allowed to take over my uncle’s horse farm in Suffolk, Virginia, so I left Holly Farms to operate a horse boarding and training facility.

I was responsible for a 29-acre horse farm and training facility and used my experience to care for the animals and oversee health issues. My knowledge of animals is built on my education and the operation of an eight-horse boarding and training facility. I managed the facility for four years until I entered the school for my Bachelor of Science at the University of Toledo to broaden my career options.

masud

Masud Oyekanmi

Veterinary assistant

I have trained and worked as a veterinary assistant under the supervision of an accredited veterinarian for 4 years. During these periods, I acquired knowledge on how to provide first aid to pets in an emergency. I was also trained to administer medications, comfort pets during inspections, feed, and practice with animals. Also, I often assist with lab work. These experiences heightened my personal qualities and pet relations.

Monika Dimitrovska

Writer and Pet Owner

I’ve been a pet enthusiast and writer for over 6 years now. I own one cat and two dogs. I’ve also taken care of dozens of animals throughout the years, mostly cats and dogs so I consider myself a professional pet mother as funny as it may sound.

fhilcar

Fhilcar Faunillan

Bachelor in Business Management/Juris Doctor

Born in the central part of the Philippines, I developed my interest in many things: cooking, gardening, and raising animals as pets.

Our family home was like a mini-sanctuary. My family’s collection of animals was not limited to dogs and cats but also included goats, chickens, pigs, geese, turkey, fishes, a rabbit, a monitor lizard, and some cows. And we claim the birds and bats dwelling on the trees around us. Every

pig, goat, cat, and dog had their names!

Moving to the metropolis (as soon as I studied college), I long to wake up to the cock-a-doodle-do. My love for animals has not ceased as I continued to rescue some and have given them a new home.

A decade-long of pet writing serves as an avenue to share my first-hand experience caring for animals in need. Should I be given enough funds, I dream of building a happy animal sanctuary one day where they can feel loved and cared for without the fear of being slaughtered.
